Xinhua Agency, Shenzhen, October 22 (Reporters Dai Xiaohe and Wang Feng) China CNOOC announced on the 22nd that its liquid hydrogen maritime carrier arrived at Shenzhen Yantian Port on the same day after sailing more than 10,000 nautical miles. This marks my country's entry into a new track for long-distance transoceanic transportation and utilization of global hydrogen energy.

Safe and efficient hydrogen energy transportation technology is a key link in determining whether the hydrogen energy industry can develop rapidly. Existing transportation forms mainly include gaseous hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, and organic matter storage and transportation of hydrogen. Among them, liquid hydrogen has the advantages of high energy density and high transportation efficiency, and has become the preferred form for solving large-scale and long-distance hydrogen energy transportation and utilization in the future.

This transportation is an industrial technology and resource cooperation between CNOOC China and Air Liquide of France. Liquid hydrogen is loaded in cold-insulation tank containers and transported by European ocean-going cargo ships. It was loaded from the Port of Rotterdam in Europe on September 4, local time. It traveled through the Atlantic Ocean to the Cape of Good Hope and then to the Strait of Malacca, and finally arrived at Yantian Port in Shenzhen, completing the long-distance transoceanic transportation of liquid hydrogen above tons.

Xiao Li, chief design engineer of the Technology R & D Center of China CNOOC Gas and Power Group, said that in order to ensure the smooth customs clearance and safe unloading of liquid hydrogen for the first time, the CNOOC China project team has systematically carried out research on transportation process technology, equipment technology, safety technology and international policies, laws and regulations for the long-distance trans-ocean transportation industry chain of liquid hydrogen, breaking through the liquid hydrogen tank shipping process control technology, quantitative risk identification technology for the entire industry chain. A series of technical problems such as the "direct lifting from the ship side" of liquid hydrogen 2.1 hazardous chemicals in the port have opened up safety technical bottlenecks in all aspects and ensured the smooth development of the first voyage.

According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, by 2050, more than 30% of hydrogen production will be used for international trade. my country's annual hydrogen production reaches 40 million tons. The successful implementation of long-distance trans-oceanic transportation will provide a new way for my country to explore hydrogen energy trade.
